According to the reputable news source Der Spiegel, Mercedes wants a slice of the pickup market. Their commercial vehicle division be assigned to this task, but it is unclear which platform they will use. And of course, it won't be for the US market.

Not for USA because nobody buys a truck in the USA unless it looks like a brick, and Mercedes doesn't want to build a brick.

Which strikes me as odd, because that's what a G-class is.

I do wonder what kind of truck this will be. Utilitarian or penis extension? Looking at the pictures I was guessing the latter, but because it won't be available in the US but will be available in Europe it's probably the former.
